Agent's Commission
Real Estate agents are paid a percentage of your home's selling price. You won't pay a fee up front to the agent. You'll meet with the real estate agent to discuss your home. Often, you'll meet at your house, so the agent can explain how to ready your home for showing. You can also ask your agent to help you set a fair market price. The agent's experience and knowledge of the area will help strike a balance between profit and a reasonable length of time before selling.
Agents earn their commission by advertising and marketing your home, finding qualified potential buyers, showing your home, and negotiating the sale of your property. The agent devotes a lot of time to this endeavor, so it's not unusual for the agent to receive a seven percent commission. The agent will split this money with the agency or broker. |
